July !!! Summer !!! Short one !!

Hello friends –

I am not feeling very lyrical or profound or prolific lately, but it’s been a month since I posted on Substack and I would like to continue trying to post once or twice a month so here I am, posting something!

First and foremost: This is my cat Tilly. I took her home as a foster approximately four days ago and signed her adoption contract yesterday. Probably the fastest foster fail of all time. But I’ve been desperately wanting a cat for a long long time and then the universe’s cat distribution system just happened to plop a perfect little angel in my lap…! She is perfect and sweet and very friendly. Open door policy for friends of the household—come meet her anytime!!!

Last week I made a vision board on Canva and had it printed nice and big on thick glossy paper at FedEx. I was really embarrassed going to pick it up, which I know is silly because surely FedEx employees are past the point of thinking twice about the print orders that come through. It’s full of scenes of tables set for dinner parties and film sets and theatres looking out from the stage at the audience and pictures of stacks of scripts and cool young writer/comedian types. It also features several cute little cats, and was made several days before any gears were even set in motion for a cat of my own… So basically… The magic of the vision board is already activated.

My musical improv group is performing at BCC’s Fun and Dumb Fest on Saturday, and I’m personally preparing to have the best weekend of my life and stay out til 3am all weekend laughing and hanging out with my friends and making new ones…! Also coming up is IMPROVISED GLEE which I’m producing and performing in. July 19th… Would love to see you there.

2025 has felt very quick in the moment and very long in retrospect. On the first of every month I’ve been saying, “How is it already (month)???” but now that we’re halfway through, I do feel like the past six months took a nice meaty satisfying six months to get through. It makes me excited that there’s another six months to go!
